AWANA
Awana Clubs International is a non-denominational,
Bible-centered Program for children. Since 1950, an ever-growing number
of churches have been using the Awana program to reach out to children in their
communities.
The name AWANA stands for "Approved
Workmen Are Not A
shamed" and based on the Scripture:
Timothy 2:15 - Study to show
yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth.
Wilmington Bible Chapel's Awana Club, Charter
Number 1398, began in 1974. We have 4 clubs reaching children
from age 3 through the 8th grade and seek to minister to boys and girls and
their families with the gospel of Christ and help them to lead Christ-honoring
lives. We welcome all children to Awana, regardless of religious
affiliation.
Our Cubbie program is for preschool boys and girls age 3 to 4. The program
supports parents as the primary source of spiritual nurturing, involving them
directly in the learning process. The children have handbooks like the older
kids, learn simple Bible verses and join in preschool level activities.
Sparks is for children in Kindergarden through 2nd grade. They enjoy stories
from the Bible and everyday life, learn through their handbooks about who God
is and what He has done for them, and play games that introduce them to
teamwork.
'T&T' stands for Truth and Training and is boys and girls in 3rd through
6th grades. The kids are encouraged through much Bible memorization, Bible
teaching, games and activities. The various activities include a camp outings,
etc.
Our JV club is for teens in the 7th and 8th grade. They enjoy challenging
activities and practical life Bible devotions. They take outings to various
restaurants and an annual camping trip.
